Hello,

I installed an Alpine CDA9820 XM using the factory wiring harness. Everything worked for about 20 minutes the radio, cd, XM radio everything was good. Put the car back together turn the car off and go inside. When I come back out and start up the car the head unit works corectly but I have no sound. Went back and checked all my connections and I still have nothing, no static, no chipping, nothing. Neither my front speakers or my rears. The car is stock with no subs, amps or other addons. The unit is functioning properly ie:the tuner locks onto stations the cd player plays but no sound. What have I done wrong?

Thanks

Jim

Sounds like the output amp is shut down, which can happen for a number of reasons including the speaker wires being shorted together or to ground.  Or, maybe the OEM speakers are 2-ohms, which might shut down the internal amps as well.  Disconnect the speakers and test them to see what their resistance is and if any is shorted out.

You must have them wired up incorrectly then it finaly blew a fuse. Check the fuses.
