good question. youll want to take a day off to figure it out. first take a look at your ground. make sure its as close to the chassis as possible. usually the bottom of your trunk is good. then if thats not it, make sure your rca cables are not ran next to the power wire. its always a good idea to run the power on one side of the car and the rcas on the other side. its probably one of those. if not, just come back on here and youll get some more help.always looking for new info and willing to give it

are you hearing your fuel pump or your altenator.If its your altenator than it is almost always related to your ground wire. Make sure it goes to an unpainted surface of the car, prefurably some place with double metal. DO NOT USE ANY PRE-EXISTING BOLTS. I see nebies do this all the time and it drives me insane. Its never a good Idea and very rarly a good ground. Its kinda uncommon to hear really bad ground noise through your sub unless the ground is exceptionally bad. If you are hearing a popping noise through the sub then I suggest you check your ignition system such as your cap, spark plugs and plug cables. Look for pin holes and what not in the cables. true about the stock ground. the best ground in the whole car is at the alternator. its good to upgrade the actual factory ground wire too. they give you a 4 guage from the alternator to the battery but stick you with a 10 guage ground wire.always looking for new info and willing to give it

ok  what i have going here is a 85 ford mustang that was striped down . 351w  (130amp alt)  i made a new wire harness  change fuelpump from intank  to  one that is inline . i have ground strap block to frame #4wire  bat- to block#2 to frame #8 i have  {1- headlite circuit }  {1circuit brake lites running turn flasher) 1 circuit that is hot in run and acc  that feeds  a fuseblock  for  radio and inside lite and dash  fuelpump is on it own circuit amp feed from bat + on #8  ground to  body about 8 in from amp with # 10

If your crossover was set correcly then there is no way in hell you can possible hear engine noise or alternator whine through your sub, it is a higher frequency that will not pass through a low pass filter.Certified Security Specialist

oops and a msd  ignition all guages are  after market  spitfire  all connection where  tined and joined and srinkwraped i am going to try a 1way diode  in the line to the pump

Ground the pump body with a dedicated ground strap and see if that helps.  Plus, be aware that with your high energy ignition system you may get uncontrollable ignition noise that cannot be taken out of the system.  (Sometimes if you're trying to build a hot rod, you just can't put high-end audio gear into it and keep the engine goodies you want too.)Support the12volt.com
