Gauge pod mounting tubes, 2-1/16'' dia.

I currently researching my upcoming 'glass project comprising of a custom A-pillar dual gauge pod for a pair of 2-1/16" gauges.

One of the things that's been bugging me is how to build the press-fit mounting tubes for the gauges themselves. I've looked into something like Schedule 40 PVC pipe cut to fit but am curious if there's a better solution available?

Basically, I'm looking for the thinnest wall possible for the smallest pod size that will securely hold the gauges and a material that the 'glass resin will bond well with. I'm thinking of having both gauges mounted at the base of the A-pillar horizontally as close as possible to each other for the lowest possible profile/best view out the windshield.

Try using the urethane foam to mold it. 

I personally use PVC myself for gauges it has the right thickness so the bezel on the gauge sits flush with the final product. I tack the pvc to the pillar and stretch the fleece right over the one, two, or the gauges and it has never been to bigand looks great.
