OK. I'm looking at getting a new car. the one above. And will need to put in a system. First how are the Harman Kardon speakers? Will they accept a 4 ohm load from a new headunit? And with the head unit. Is it possible to put a headunit in a 2002 BMW. There dash is odd and they have controls on the stearing wheel for things like volume and to skip songs etc..If i can put in a head unit will those controls still be able to be used? Dash can be seen here CLICK HERE(bottom left pic). If putting a headunit in is not possible then can i still install an Eclipse Titanium 15 with an MRD-M1001?please help. Thanks

This looks similar to your dash and radio, so the install should be very similar. I've heard bad things about BMWs and subs, like the bass is very muffled because of the excellently sealed trunk. I'm not sure if this applies to that modle or not.

both back seats can fold down. And im pretty sure there is a hole from the trunk to cabin. Hopefully i wont have the big of a problem with bass from a titanium. Thanks for the reply.

my best advice is keep the factory h/u get a good x-over/eq and line out converter and put a new 4-chan amp and door speakers and subs so you can keep it looking factory becasue u would have to design an entire dash out of fiberglass pretty much my friend did it and it slammed like a mother

No way, I wouldn't use any eq/x-over off of factory BMW deck. To do this you would end up using loc's off of the factory amplifier wiring which is already x-overed and it would probably sound horrible, you may be able to take low level outputs from the deck and wire them to rca's but you may have problems. Your best bet is to leave the factory radio in place and mount a radio somewhere else like in the glove box, or you could remote locate the face plate. The only thing that would be worth actually installing a radio into the factory location would be an indash dvd/monitor IMO. It doesn't look like metra has a kit for it either.

there is a metra kit for this car. best kits also makes one too. the factory harmon kardon speakers are actually quite good, and you should have a subwoofer(s) already with this car on the rear deck, depending on which year. have a look at best kits website to find the parts you need. you'll find that metra will list similar items. simply connect your h/u's speaker outputs to the harness and the remote turn-on to trigger the factory amp. very simple install.
good luck!

The harmon kardon speakers are fine for stock, but don't even come close to aftermarket speakers.
