Hey,
I am yet again installing a system for a friend. I've came to a fork in the road, and I really do not know which way to go. Maybe you guys can shed some light for me. Okay, I have a 12 inch Dual vented box that are made for (2) 12 inch Kicker Solo-baric L5/L7. I think that I am going with the L7's,but should I get the 4ohm or the 2ohm. Also, what is a good amp to power these subs because I know that they require lots of juice?

2 ohm or 4 ohm depends on what amp you have and on what you are trying to acccomplish.  I assume since you're using L7's this is an SPL oriented system.  Get two SVC 2-ohm or DVC-4-ohm and wire it for 1-ohm total load, and get a good amp that is 1-ohm stable and matches the RMS power of the subs.

Okay, thanks for the help... If I decide to get the 2 ohm. What amp would you recommend and what wiring design? I know that there are many ways to wire subs to amps.

Okay let me rephrase that... say I got the JBL 1200.1. Would that be enough to power these subs if so should I get 2 ohm or 4ohm and how would I wire them? I'm looking for lots of SPL.

If you have two SVC 2-ohm speakers wired in parallel (both + to amp +, both - to amp -) then you create a 1-ohm total load.  Get an amp that will deliver 1000 watts or so into 1-ohm, like a JBL BPX 1100.1, an Orion 1200D, a PPI DCX 1500.1, Memphis 16-MC1000D or Apline MRD-M1001 (or any other good quality 1-ohm mono stable amp.)

Kicker L7's are rated at 750 watts each, so if you want to run a 1200.1 to each sub, you'll want 4-ohms per sub.  That amp will put out 600 watts into 4-ohms.  You want no more than 1500 watts RMS for two L7's to stay within their ratings.

Of course on the other hand, you can do whatever you want and toss as much power at them as you want as long as you don't care how long they last.

Well, I mean if I am going to spend alot of money into them. I want them to last a long time so I don't want to over power them but I want to try and get the most out the setup. So my best bet is 2 L7's 4 ohm,but what amp would be good and not overpower them and how would i wire it to get the best performance?

I need an amp to run both of them not one for each of them.
