Hi, I was wondering if anybody knows how to install a dry cell battery so that i can run my amps off of them. Do I need a new alternator to power 2 batteries or can I use my old one? Its on a chevy cavalier.

This is a common subject in this forum. If you are going to listen for long periods with the vehicle off, two batteries and a Contactor or Isolator makes sense. If you are going to be listening while the vehicle running, the second battery becomed a load! plus you are carring another 50 lbs of weight around. Batteries can't make energy only store it, just like a cap. The best solution is also the most expensive, A HO alternator. If you do a second batt +iso/contactor don't forget when you start your car the alt will work that much harder to charge both batteries. This will cause increased wear on your alt. Good Luck
