Please help!  My factory head unit in my 97 Toyota 4Runner has 2 antenna leads going into the back.  One looks like a standard antenna lead, while the other is much smaller and thinner.  I want to replace my factory deck with an aftermarket one, but what should I do with the "tiny" antenna lead?

Thanks,

Brandon

The smaller lead is from the diversity antenna on your rear passanger quarter window.  It is used by the factory system and is not needed for the aftermarket system.

Hope this helps.

Just to expand a little on what JayBrown1 said, if you look at the back window, you'll see up towards the top a set of bars that are interconnected. That's the diversity antenna. The OEM receiver can switch between the two, or combine signals if its advanced enough, that it should get better reception. Personally I'm not sure that its all that helpful, and you should have no problem just zip-tying it out of the way. Good Luck :)

Could it be one for AM radio and One for FM radio? C'oz I have the problem before and I find out that the bigger plug is a FM radio Antena and I cannot receive AM radio station so I join to together and the problem solve but I'm know really sure whether is ok or not doing that! HEHE! Toyota factory deck w/ 2 antennas? -- posted image. Good Luck to you guy!
