the 501 wouldnt be good at all. but the mrd-500 would work perfectly. if you got at least 12.5 volts it will push just what you need. the r types will take about 300 watts rms and the amp pushes 400 rms per channel at with a 2 ohm load at 12.5 volts. i got mine pushing a pair of e type 12's and its more than enough for those.

rite.....  but so wrong sorry.  The 501 is a better choice over the older 500, , the 501 now has 50 wrms more power on tap, and a few more tuneing functions.  Each r-12 can handle 500 wrms easily, multiply that by 2 and thats 1000wrms his combo can handle.  But don't take my word for it, , its not like im a certified F#1 status installer or anything.

yeah youre right about the amp man. i was looking at something else. but the r types are rated at 300 rms. the only one rated at 500rms each is the 15 inch. either one is okay for the application. i would stay away from mtx though.

always looking for new info and willing to give it
