04 mustang mach audio system

is there a difference between the audio wiring in the 00 mustang and the 04 with the mach audio system?

do all 04 mustangs have a factory amp.

Yes there is a difference. The 00 Mach system has an AM/FM Cassette (single DIN) and a seperate slave (single din) CD Player. The 2000 system has three amplifiers. One amp in front below the radio(runs mid/highs), two amps in the trunk(runs bass). The Connectors for this system are completely different than the 2004 (for that matter the 2001-2003 are also different) The 2001-2005 Mach system has only 2 amps in the trunk for bass, the mid/highs are run by the radio. 94-2000 Premium or Mach systems are easy to interface with if all you want to do is change the radio. All you need is a premium sound amp interface (also called add-a-head) from Peripheral, PIE, PAC and others. Do not use the kind that only have the plug with wire leads they sond like crap, use the ones with an actual interface box and adjustable gains. 2001 and up systems are much more difficult to interface with because the radio has two built in crossovers, one on the standard speaker lines (which in mach systems run your 4 mid/high speakers, the ones in the little triangle enclosure at the top front of the doors and 2 more in the rear, location depends on model) that is a high pass. One on the sub output (special seperate plug) that is low pass. Also the way the so called subs are wired is not a stereo configuration, they are paralleled 2 per amp. One amp running the front and one rear. It is possible to upgrade these later systems but it takes a lot more work. For the sound quality you would get after making an aftermarket radio work with the factory amps (in 2001-2005 mach systems) In my opinion it is not worth the hassle. Just scrap the entire factory system and completely replace with aftermarket.
