Hey ya'll, I just thought I would get everyone's input on what they think subs. I currently have 3 jl 12w6's and 2 jl 18w6's. these aren't the new breed, but the old school that knock your socks off when done right. I am currently am trying to decide on switching to alpine subs. I would like to know what you all think about them in comparison to the jl's. I also would like to what you think about the type r's vs the type s's. Let me hear it from all of ya. I have 2 possible amps to run the subs as well. I currently am running 2 ppi pc2350's. One for the 12's and one for the 18's. I am going to be switching those up with the new alpine mono amps. I plan on using 1 mono 1000 for each 18 and 1 mono 500 for each 12. Let me know!

I think that if you go with the Type S you will be dissapointed but the type R's will be a very close match if you set them up right. Your set up now wil be hard to beat, but i think Type R's mite nudge past the Jl's. The JL set up u have rite now still sounds great.
It is better to remain queit and have others think u are dumb, then to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

well, it's obvious that you are going for SPL. Now, if you went with the Alpine, you do know that you can only get up to a 15" woofer right? Anyhow, why are you considering the switch? Does your current set up not satisfy? If so, there might be ways to boost the performance of your existing equipment so u can save alotta cash.
