Well i got a new ride and installing my old stereo. Now i have it all wired but besides the orange cable. I checked alping and they dont even show the same harness i have. I have a pink with black strip and remote out that they dont even show. Anyways i think this is the dimmer cable but im nto sure.

Its a solid orange wire. Thanks for the help

also i have a 300zx with bose but i think im just going to to rewire the whole car just so i dont have to deal with the factory crap. but i dont want to short anything out. Thanks for the help

You are correct - the solid orange is the dimmer. The pink/black is the audio inturrupt in, as in for use with an on board cell phone or GPS voice prompts.

Are you sure that you have a 7863? only the 7995, 7894, and 7893 were supposed to have dimming ability (in that model year). Or maybe the harness came off of one of these somewhere along the line?
