Okay well this is pretty much the last piece of the puzzle for my car.  I have bought a pair of last year's model Pioneer 5 1/4 component speakers.  Last year they were priced at $280.  I'm not looking for the absolute best speaker (aka the most money). I'm just looking for the best quality for the small budget i'm on.  So, question is what are the differences between coaxials and components.  Just to check whether or not i'll be satisfied with my purchase...the install isn't till thursday.  I will have the tweeters up by my mirrors which should be better than having them shooting down at my feet ( as they normally would).  Please offer some advice and pointers.  The speakers will not be amplified..instead running off of my JVC deck.

Coaxials dont provide as much bass as component speakers. But both can provide clean crisp sound if you buy the right kind of speakers. So if you want more bass, go with component speakers.

Well components generally sound better than coaxial speakers because they have better crossovers.  You don't have much room for a crossover on a coaxial speaker, so they use first order slopes with a single capacitor.  With components, you can use a much better crossover, which gives the speakers a much better "voice".  The down side is that a component set can be much more difficult to install.

Componets also allow you to place the tweeters wherever you want them, this will result in better sounding highs. Another difference is that componets cost moreComponents or Coaxials - Last Post -- posted image.
