I have a kenwood kdc-mp425 deck in a 03 dodge Neon.  I want change out  the rear deck speakers, they are 6x9,I was thinking of putting in Kicker Comp C8 freeair subs. i know i would need to adapt these i dont think i would have a big problem installing that.

How would this sound/workout

put an amp to them and they should sound great. free air subs are perfect for that application. just try to cut the holes as clean as you can.

you must use an amp for those speakers. they are 100 watts rms. 200 watts max. thats the way it is my friend. the adapters sound fine. i suggest a 200 watt rms amp

you want to get the both close in range. rms watts and max watts. lets say the amp is 200 rms and 600 max. you want to pick a sub thats around the same give or take 100 watts + or -.
it all depends on what you want. if u add 10's i would put back the 6x9's for more mids and highs.

If this is not enough bass for you then it might present some issues. First I think this is a great idea for you to do. A free air sub will work awesome in this application, especially when powered properly. If it is not enough however a sub in a sealed or ported box might be in order, this may cause cancellation issues with the freeair drivers however. But try it first and see how it goes.
Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.
