Hi there, new to the forum.

My Alarm System: Carbine 500

Well, I reinstalled my alarm the other day because I replaced my dash and I never really hid all the install wires as well as I should have.  Anyways I hooked back up all my wires after re-routing them and everything was great except for one thing.

Previously I had my main siren and 1 interior siren plus a strobe light.  I am pretty sure that the strobe light and interior siren were powered from a relay that was wired into the +12 siren output on the brain.  Well for some reason now the +12 lead on the brain is flaky.  I have tried a bunch of combinations of this but right now that +12 lead goes to my relay which in turn powers the 2 sirens.  The strobe is no longer installed.  What happens is that when I trigger the alarm the lights flash but the relay is not clicking.  I messed with the relay while the alarm was triggered and all of a sudden the sirens went off.  I replaced the relay and the same thing happens although I can't get the sirens to sound by tapping the relay.

This happens like 1 out of every 6 times I trigger the alarm.  Judging by the OHM meter when it happens the +12 lead is not sending any signal at all.  I am not sure if this happened before my re-wire since I really did not test the alarm in the last few years.

Any advice?

I've installed so many alarms that i can't even tell you.  The only time you would have a problem such as yours is when you don't have a good ground.  Check and redo your ground on both your alarm and siren.  The only proper ground is to run directly to the batt.  The same goes for power. I am unfamilur with Carbine 500 alarm.  If it is some cheep pos, than I would just get a new alarm, they are pretty inexpensive now a days.

I ground is a possibility.

ALso, since it is a reinstall, you may have a bad solder joint on the alarm's circuit board where the siren + pin makes contact.

This often happens on the cheap pos alarms.

Problem with +12 siren output on brain - Last Post -- posted image.I am unsure how it can be a ground issue because the brain is clicking away with the internal parking light flasher and everything else in the alarm is working.

I am new to this board, is it common for everyone to call your hardware pos?  I did not get some circuit city $59 install this was from a higher end stereo/alarm shop that ran me $350 to install a couple years ago.  Not that the price of the install=the quality but man.  The alarm may not be a Viper or a Clifford but geez take it easy.
