I have an Avantguard 4 alarm and the horn/siren is not chirping to give the “armed/disarmed” confirmation anymore.
I have even tried checking it out with the Cliff Wizard software and no errors show up and all the wiring seems to be fine. It just stopped working one day.
Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance,
KP

if you hold down the lock button on the remote.....the siren should sound off and the parkinglights should flash.

if you hear nothing.....your siren needs to be replaced.

or make the alarm go off and with your testlight check the output from the alarm unit......if you get no reading.....output on the unit is fried.

are you only missing the chirping sounds, or does the siren not make sounds at all? are you using the siren that came with the alarm? it can only be connected in one way with the molexes that it comes with so it's not likely for you to have made an error there. or are you using the secondary negative horn/siren output (should be yellow)?

If the siren works at all, then it is plugged in correctly. The date bus handels it all and the siren driver is built inside the siren along with the battery. If driving the car for a good long while doesn't fix it (it only charges while driving) then the siren is bad (or just the battery pack). The old CEI version tended to go bad like that especially if in a hot location. The newer DEI version -515R doesn't seem to have the same issue.

Swap it out and all should be good.

As a matter of fact my 3yo AG4 siren just konked out in my DelSol about a week ago.

I'll get to it in a few years i suppose :)

clifford g4 sirens on the higher models of alarms are notorious for going faulty after a while. a couple of things you can try is to reprogram your remote(s) to make sure that you're not actually pressing silent arming and disarming, and also checking to make sure in the programming options that your chirping is not "off". does it change if you set it to quiet chirps or loud chirps?
i'm using the same alarms on 2 of my own vehicles and both of them have strange reactions on disarming chirps. both of them will not consistently do silent disarming....one gives me a standard quiet chirp even if i press silent disarming, and the other gives me one the tones produced when adjusting the proximity sensitivity. kinda annoying at first, but since it seems to work normally otherwise, i just shrug it off and leave them alone.

Oh, i fogot to mention, did you connect Night Vision? If so, do the headlights/parking lights coem on even if its light out? If so, and you have SilentNight sturned on (column 2, Row 2 User) then the chirps will not work either...the electric eye is bad or the blue disk turned black..pop it out to eliminate problem.
