ok what im trying to accomplish is this: i have a little pa/horn thing mounted up in my overhead console and its ignition powered. i want to mount my radar detector up above my rear view mirror and wire it into the positive wire for the pa/horn. will there be enough current for both of these coming from that one wire, and could you explain why whichever answer it is?

most likely there will be enough power, but to be on the safe side you could wire your radar to a relay and use the pos wire of your pa horn as a trigger
87 radar detector
30 12v+ constant
85 ground
86 tap into the pos of the pa/horn
this will draw power from your constant instead of your pa/horn.
(or you could just tap the ignition wire in the steering column.)
