You can write or Email manufaturs, pleading your case but realisticly, you need to either work for them or get yourself noticed at either a show or a competion. Even when guys do get sponsered its not usually that they get every thing for free, its usually that the company gives a signifigant discount on the product, generally 25% off dealer cost is my understanding. You would have much better luck trying to get  a local shop to sponser you as opposed to an actual company exspecially with the influx of dealer demo cars latly like the Alpine mini and Civic, and the Lightning Audio Jetta and what not.

Like Ravendarat said, its not all free. You should check out a local shop and ask them upon sponsorship.  Most small or any audio dealer shop will cover approx 15% +, Depending on what you are doing.  Also they provide a financial plan that you can apply for.  You'll have probably a year or so to pay it all off before interest rates are applied, or what ever the plan is.  A friend of mine had his car sponsored. But he ended up with merchandies of $9,000 and only having to pay $6,000. He is now paying it off monthly with their plan.

For example you want to get your whole entire car out for audio competition. Alone will cost you thousands i.e $15,000. What most sponsorship dealers provide is a discount offering a % off the MSPR.    So instead of paying the full $15,000 you'l only pay say $9,000 for $15,000 worth of merchandise and labor.
This is from what i have read and was informed by a local audio shop. Not to sure but this is what i am aware of.
Hope this helps. Good LuCk!

Question:
If you are competing for SPL or SQ, doesn't buying at a price under retail bump you to a different class. I thought (I think it is IASCA) rules differentiate classes by novice up to pro (or higher), and then by wattage, and is determined in part on how you acquired your system. Is this not true? So buying stuff cheaper (@ wholesale) or getting it for free makes you compete with a more experienced class of competitors?
