From the looks of it you are not into high powered systems or anything fancy. You might come out cheaper by just replacing the factory door speakers with some aftermarket one.  Nothing expensive, but of OK quality.

fuseblower,
you are probably right. I would rather it just get the replacement part so I don't have to do any wiring (and the speaker does have the amps in it, so it does sound pretty good).
Thanks for the help on this forum. I am glad that websites like this are out there and that experts are willing to help neophytes at this sort of thing.

Just because a speaker has an amp on it does not mean it souinds good. I promise you that the dealer will charge way too much for a replacement speaker. You could probobly replace the front door speakers and buy a new cd player for about as much or less then the price of just that one new stock speaker and amp (and it would sound much better). You can still keep your rear speakers if you got a new cd player, and wiring shouldnt be that hard for a new set of front speakers.

dam you know what you can order on ebay for $187?????

i guarantee you can get a real nice pair of components, AND probably a small amp to push them and sound wayyyyy better than anything you have now....i'd think before i do that joe_b...
