2004 dodge stratus door locks

thought I might add my little experience the past few days with this vehicle and the installation of a (autopage) keyless entry...

first of all I really dislike dodge to begin with and the dude that decided to start the idea of a 'single wire system' should have his butt kicked...at least twice a day for a year...

anyway...using 3 different outlets for information regarding the resistors required to perform the job none of them had agreement on the unlock resistor value...

designtech had 730 (unlock)

wiremagic had 745 (unlock)

autopage had 620 (unlock)

all agreed on 1.8 for lock

I'm just guessing but would the descepency between values be due to the manufacture unlock / lock pulse ?

mmmpppttttt...

anyway even after 20 years in this biz a valuable lesson was learned...always go with the manufacture's spec's...even though you pay 330 a year for a fancy schmancy tech tip software aid...

Given that the resistor's used have a 5 % tolerance I'd say the 700 ohm is a good choice for the vehicle. What did you end up using for the Dodge ?

Assuming your talking about the sedan since the coupe is mostly a mitsubishi wiring wise and doesn't use resistors. The average of the 3 values is just under 700 so anywhere around there would be a good choice. There's a few reasons why there would be a difference between the companies:
1. Every mutlimeter is different and will read a different value. If you cut the wire yourself and tested to see what value resistor is needed, you would most likely get a value different than any of the three you listed.
2. Even after testing the resistance needed, I just grab whatever I can find in my box that is close to that value. They may be listing the value of the resistor they USED rather than the value of the resistance needed that they measured. I may find a 680 ohm resistor in my box and Jeff might find a 740 ohm resistor in his..Different stores/distributors carry different varieties etc..
Either way I've found the range of resistors that can be used on locks/lights is pretty broad..

617 was the number....(150 and a 470)

I've found that fairly much true over the years...but on this particular vehicle small changes in value, and the old 5% 10% rule rendered the unlock to perform 'lock'...even @ 730...over the number '620' was not happening when adding a few together to get to 660....soooooo a 150 and 470 paid cash all day !

DEI has a much higher resistance for lock
04 Stratus sedan
Lock is positive trigger thru a 2.7K ohm resistor.
Unlock is positive trigger thru a 620 ohm resistor.
And yes, I think the guy that designed one wire locks should be locked in a cage for a month. Throw the guy that designed the new Passlock system on the Saturn Ion in the cage next to him.

I've installed a two way pager in my 2000 stratus two months ago and I had no problems with the single wiring system using 2.7K and 620 ohm. I used a combination of 3 or 4 resistors in paralel/serial to get a closest value on each (2730 and 622 ohms If I remember it right) . It worked without problems from the beginning.
