best place to put compression horns?

wheres the best place to put compression horns,thought about getting a pair,but never heard any and don't know anyone with these.no shops around here carry them.if i can't make it sound good,then it is just a piece of crap anyway

yes i was talking about horns as in tweeter horns and those of that nature,how do they compare to component sets,they are a little higher,but if alot better i will spend the money.who all makes them,i know audiobahn used to,but who else??and which are the best ones?if i can't make it sound good,then it is just a piece of crap anyway

Compression horns are an acquired taste in near field monitoring like a car, but some people really like them.  They tend to be more directional and brighter than cone or dome speakers.  More directionality means it can be easier to create your front stage with them, but also that mounting position is much more critical.  They also tend to be more efficient than standard speakers and can generate larger SPL numbers for a given input, but have worse SQ performance.  I definately recomend you DO NOT simply buy a pair and install them if you have never heard them, unless yu like to experiment and can spare the coin.  Go listen to them first.  I love using horns in sound reinforcement or theatre applications where I need to throw a lot of sound a long way, but I personally don't like them in a car or a small room.Support the12volt.com

i know they run about $400 a pair,i looked at the Image Dynamics and i have never heard them,but everything i have "seen"on paper makes them look good,no one 'round here has them our shops suck.thats why i am opening up my own shop,in the middle of remodeling now.still have 4 mos.to choose what i am going to carry.so far i want:MTX,kenwood,cerwin-vega,panasonic,audio control,audiobahn,rockford fosgate and fusion.not sure if i have the right ones picked and i am asking all kinds of "?".i still have time to choose.but i am working on my own system right now.i have a mazda mx-3 and am going to put 4-18" or 4-15" something in there and stand the box upright behind my back seat and put my processors and amps on the floor behind the box.on the front of the box next to the speakers i have room to put some rear soundstage and was thinking of the horns or 4-6 1/2 and tweeters or the image dynamics CD-2COMP.but i have alot of time to comtiplate on what i want.gonna do it right the first time and not going be saying "i wish i had got these instead".you all can relate,the good stuff cost some good money.i want the best i can stick my ear to.if i can't make it sound good,then it is just a piece of crap anyway

Yeah, slicksam, but I want a pair of your air horns now....they will get that Caddy in front of me jumping when the light turns green! Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.
