Hi, I have an 04 honda accord with an oem alarm. It doesn't have a shock sensor it jusr alarms when the doors are opened. I didn't want to get an aftermarket alarm because the remote for the alarm is on the key already. I was wondering if I can put on an a shock sensor to work with the oem alarm and if so how..Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks all.

Have the shock sensor wired into the ignition system so that when the ignition is off, this trips a relay to power up the shock sensor. Now, wire up another relay on the final trigger wire of the shock sensor to trip another relay to pulse a signal to the door trigger wire of the car. This will trigger the OEM system when the final trigger of the shock sensor is tripped.

I'm new at this but have a few questions.

How come you need a relay to connect to the factory door triggers? Doesn't the sensor show ground when it is set off? If you have door triggers that show ground wouldn't that work the same without the relay? Also could you rig a piezo speaker from your 1st stage to perform the warn away function?

I figured out that the ignition relay is needed so you don't get a door ajar warning while driving.

The signal coming off the impact sensor may not be strong enough to trigger the door so a relay is installed to boost the (-) signal enough to trigger the alarm. The piezo idea would work as well but it will only trigger as long as the output on the 1st stage is activated.

Thanks, Jeff but you wouldn't happen to have a wiring diagram into the relays would you...I'm new and a little lost in doing the relays. Any help would be great...thanks.

There's some info on this site on how relays work. Should be on the left under car security.
