Clarion DPX-1000.2 stuck in 1 ohm mode?

I used a Clarion DPX-1000.2 to replace an amp I had on 2 CompVR 12's and the only output I got was some kind of strange feedback - not noise or whine or distortion - I've never heard this **** before. The amp worked on 2 Memphis 12's with no problem the day before. So I ripped out the Bose in this Infinity I30 and ran all new wiring with new 6.5's in the doors and a new MP3 HU - therefore bypassing all Bose. Then I tested the 1st amp and it worked fine, so it's not the install. The problem seems to be this "1 ohm" that flashes for 5-10 secs and then stays on. It definitely isn't at 1 ohm - I wired the 4ohm dvc's in parallel on each sub giving 2ohm stereo to the amp. I tried wiring the vc's in series and subs in parallel for 4ohm mono (which happens to be the recommended setup says clarion) Again, same result. It seems to think that it sees 1 ohm 24/7. And the godforsaken alien noise that trickles from the subs happens without the signal from the rca’s! I downloaded the manual and it states that 1 ohm mode comes on when the output load is 1ohm by shutting off for 15 secs and powering itself on, and resets by disconnecting power for 30 secs. Has anyone seen this problem before or have any ideas why it worked on the Memphis 12's and then pooped out on the kickers? The amp is 4, 2, and 1 ohm stable in stereo, 4 ohm in mono (min 2 ohms...sure!) OR...Does anyone have a Clarion DPX-1000.2 that could tell me the normal operation of this light?
