My sub box is sealed and its staying that way. As for direction I can't turn the box upright (to face the rear) because then it won't fit (ie the parcel shelf won't sit flat) Its wedge shaped slanted, i'm sure you've seen it..

I've tried aiming the sub numerous ways, as you see in the picture gives by far the best output.
One thing before I build some boxes, does the shape of the box matter or just the air volume. I have no room to hang boxes, can I make them long and thin?

yes, build a seal around your full range. they don't need to share the same air space (trunk) as your subs. your 7x10's will sound less destorted. if you didn't have subs then there would be no need to seal them off.
