alright, so i'm gonna be hooking up my 2 12" infinty subs soon. the are 4 ohm svc rated at 300 watts rms. i want to get a new amp since it seems like mine is undering powering them. in my researching on amps i can find some that are pretty good in bridged mode but nothing in 2 -channel mode. my question is how or what should i be looking for when buying an amp? i was thinking about going ahead and bridging the one i have and the new one i get to get up to the wattage for the subs but i have read that this can burn out your amp. any suggestions here? i'm mainly looking at name brand amps because they seem to be in my price range, alpine, infinity, mtx, are the main ones. if anyone has any suggestions feel free to post them. thanks

Grab a JBL BP600.1 or GTO 601.1, they are subwoofer mono amps, it will put out 600W rms X 1 @ 2-ohms...Would be nice for ur subs...
Wiring two SVC 4-ohm subs in parallel is easy, u take the pos from 1 sub and twist it together to the pos on the other sub, and do the same for the negs, and u got a 2-ohm load and at 2-ohms, that jbl will make it's 600W rms...look here: http://www.jlaudio.com/tutorials/wiring/#2svcp
if u don't want the jbl, get an amp that does 600Wrms X 1 @ 2-ohms and ur set...mono amp.

You could hook the two subs up in parallel, butthat would mean that the load becomes 2ohm instead of 4ohm so keep that in mind when buying an amp. you should be able to fine an amp that will produce 600w at 2 ohms no problem, for example, here is one that provides 800 watts with a 2 ohm load.

Wireing speakers in parralel basicly means your going to hook + on the amp to the + terminal on both speakers and the - on the amp to the - terminal on both speakers.

Also, if i understood what you were asking, you wanted to connect two amps together to get a higher watt output? thats a really bad idea. you would be much better off hooking each amp up to each speaker individually.

I had Cheetos and wine for dinenr.

so hooking up speakers in parrellel is the same thing as bridging the amp? or am i just totally lost in this whole area?

bridging an amp is when you take a stereo output and combining it to produce a mono output with a wattage that is equal to the total of the twp channels. for example a 2 channel amp @ 250w per channel would become a 1channel amp @500w per channel when bridged.

Wireing speakers in parralel is hooking up two speakers in the way described above to run them off of a mono output.

What type of amp do you have right now?
