Blinking LEDs

I have a few led lights laying around, but there the 2 wire(power,ground), steady on type. How do I make them blink on and off, like the ones on many car alarms?

you can make an astable timer, usually a 555 circuit for leds, but most of the time its just easier to get a flashing LED...
