Just recently had a pioneer 4600mp deck installed in my 2001 Honda Civic.  The deck sounds great, except for the AM reception. It really sucks.  I understand that it's a 'powered' antenna, mounted in the rear windshield.  All the hookups seem okay.  The only wire not in use is the blue remote control wire coming out of the deck.

Any ideas on how to improve AM reception?  Lots of static.  FM works great.  I never had a problem with the factory deck.

This is driving me nuts!

Please help!

try to hook up the blue with white striped remote turn on to the blue power antenna wire on the honda harness , if its a powered ant. that will need hooked up.

That did the trick!!!! Finally, a solution to my problem!!!!

I posted the same question on another website, and people were saying that I should expect the AM reception to be poor because there isn't as much emphasis placed on receiving AM signals by car audio manufacturers.  What a load of B.S.

Thanks again!
