w/ a folded horn enclosure you can get tremendous amount of bass from a single speaker with very little power.  The drawback is that you drastically reduce the amount of watts you sub can take.  A 500 watt sub for example will only hold about 150 watts in a folded horn box.  This box is big and is really hard on subs but a bass machine!! I did one w/ a 15" kicker L7 when they first came out and it was great.

Heh, I just built two sub enclosures just like this using two of our 15" tempest drivers.  Those things get really freakin loud.

It's a great way to get a huge amount of output from very little power.  You can increase the efficiency of the system up over 100 dB.  But they are VERY difficult to design right, and also very difficult to build.  They are also very large (the one's I built are 3' by 3' by 1.5').
