Hi guys,
You may remember I posted a while back about building some boxes for my rear speakers. I decided to go ahead with them, I mean I can always take them off if they don't work!
I'm kinda getting ahead of myself though. I think it'd be quite cool to have perspex fronts with blue neon bulbs in the box so they shine the big magnets. (These 7x10 DLS Reference have enormous silver bottoms)
Does anyone know if I can take the power from the trunk light (that lights up when the trunk pops) and wire a couple of bulbs in series? Also has anyone done this? I've seen bulbs in speaker boxes before, cheesy though it is - it'll be my first rice-type upgrade since I bought my car. Everything is hidden, the car looks the same as when I got it, it doesn't even have alloy wheels. Just monster sound.
Thanks
Tom

You should be able to connect lights using the power from your turn on wire, as shown in this https://www.the12volt.com/relays/page5.asp#rtol, where the lights take the place of the fans in the diagram.  I haven't done it myself, but it seems that I remember seeing that info on this forum before.
Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

if you give me the model and year of car i can tell you where to grab the wire for the trunk light so you can relay it.

The light, you can see is next to the speaker plug on the left of the image. You can wiggle it out and it has +/- wires to the bulb.
In my previous post the reason for the boxes was to protect them from the pressure from being so close to the sub, and perhaps achieve better bass response.
Cheers, Tom
