Hello.  I searched for the information I wanted, but couldn't find what I need to know.  I am doing some research for a friend of mine who has 3 JL 10W6's and wants to purchase an amp to drive them.  He was thinking of wiring them in parallel, for a 1-ohm load, and wanted me to find an amp suitable for that.  However, after reading some posts here, it seems that not only would a 1-ohm mono stable amp be very pricy, but it wouldn't provide the best "working environment" for the amp.  So, i'm looking into an amp to drive the subs in a series-wired configuration (4-ohm).  As i'm sure you know, a 10W6 is rated at 300W RMS, so it seems that he should need 900W rms @ 4 ohms, correct?

What amplifier would you suggest I look at for him?  His only requirements are that the amp pushes the subs to their full potential (I think he's looking for SPL), and that he can purchase a matching 4-channel amp for the rest of his system.  Thanks!

the JL 1000/1 is exactly what he needs, it will always put out its rms anywhere between 1.5 ohm and 4 ohm, , it self adjusts, , you know what im sayin??   Like most amps will put out 1000 rms at 2 ohm, and 500 rms at 4 ohm, , , , , , , but this amp puts out 1000 rms at 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3, 3.5, 4, ,aight.   So its a super good amp for future changes and plus its one of the best sub amps out there.

If i made a mistake anyone, , please correct me.

i wouldn't recomend the jl1000. If he is going for spl and considering competing,   I would go with a us amps hc 100 or memphis hc 100 or kicker xs100...older amps but tons of power, look on ebay for them

I totally agree. I have 3 10W6's (originals, not v2's) and the 1000/1...haven't hooked it all up yet, but I'm working on it. Maybe in a month I can tell you all how it works out. Help selecting amp for 3 10W6 -- posted image.

Why not the JL if he is competing?  You have blown my mind with that one.

The JL is an excellent amp and can compare to any of the others you mentioned.
