dunno what's up with this but my alarm is not locking on arm/disarm...im totally stumped on what it is but i do have some info on my car's wiring and such for somebody to use to help me!

single wire door lock system.....one wire carries both unlock and lock pluses...after testing the wire with my multimeter im finding that it reads round 5V when i hold the lock button down on my car and round 3V when i hold unlock down

my alarm has a 3 wire harness that plugs into the module with a green lock wire, red 12v relay power wire, and blue unlock wire

now wiring diagrams for my 1999 dodge stratus say put a 1.5kohm resistor in the unlock wire so i did

when i test the blue and green wires off the alarm and arm/disarm the alarm to send the siginal thru em, i get lock at about .7V and unlock at about .5V (cuz of the resistor probably)

WHAT GIVES? i was told i needed NO relays at all and simply needed to put a resistor in the unlock wire

please dont tell me it's my alarm i dont wanna rip that back outta there and get a replacement!!

if you need any further info or maybe wiring diagrams let me know cuz i have some and access to more

Drive it like you stole it..

If the the alarm only supplies a low level output for the locks, then yes you do need relays.

now im waiting on somebody from my car's forums to cough up a relay wiring diagram for me...lucky me i ordered 7 harnessed relays and only used 5

Both relays: 85 constant +12V, 30 ground, 87 output. Lock relay will have 86 lock output from alarm. Unlock relay will have 86 unlock output from alarm. Place correct resistors on the output of the lock and unlock relay.

so we talkin like this?

not locking/unlocking on arm/disarm -- posted image.

and i'd need a relay per wire comin from the alarm? one for the unlock output and one for the lock output? and where would i put my 1.5k Ohm resistor for the unlock wire? before or after the relay?

the info i have for a '99 Stratus says: "Use positive (+) trigger thru a 620 ohm resistor to lock, and a positive (+) trigger thru a 2.7K ohm resistor to unlock. Must use relays. "

Yup your right, I didn't research it. Your diagram would look like this but with the correct resistors in place between 30 and the car's wire.

yea there was controversy over the 620 and 2.7k thing in that both the wiring diagram here and the audiovox wiring diagram said 1.5kohm resistor in the unlock wire and nothing in the other

somebody i talked to on the other forums ( www.stratusphere.us) told he talked to audiovox and they said those resistors were probably to use with my vehicle that had the factory security system and i would just need to use the 1.5kohm resistor

but i just went out and got the readings so maybe somebody can tell me what resistors i need...

unlock: 2.39V

lock: 6.17V

i would guess then that the 2.7kohm goes on the unlock and the 620ohm goes on the lock...if i had no resistor on the lock wire and it was supposed to be that way, wouldnt the factory locks then need to read 12V?

yea there was controversy over the 620 and the 2.7k thing in that the wiring diagram here and the one audiovox has for my car says 1.5k on unlock only and nothing on the other

one explaination i got was from a guy on the other forums ( www.stratusphere.us) who called audiovox and they told him i would probably need the 620 and 2.7k for my car if equipped with a factory security system

i just went out and got the readings on the factory wire so maybe somebody can verify what resistors i would indeed need

unlock: 2.39V

lock: 6.17V

i would assume from those readings that i would need a resistor of some value on each wire otherwise the factory wire would have to read 12V for me to not need a resistor there right?
