I have tried to install a Blaupunkt CD Receiver in my son's car but there is nosound.  Crutchfield is no help.  Took three phone calls to convincethem that this car preamped speakers and then when five wire workaround did not work, sent me a PAC adapter and this does not work.

Five wire work around got sound when I disconnected the speaker terminaland then reconnected but lost sound when changing channel or turningunit on/off.  Needless to say can not plug/unplug terminal while driving.

Lost confidence in Crutchfield.

Anyone have actual replacement/successful experience with this Ford setup?  This can not be a big deal.

What is the way to get sound? Car speakers are fine. Only problemis aftermarket receiver will not give sound (25 watt Blaupunkt;  PAC OEM-2 System Interface not a solution.)

did you hook up the amp remote wire from the blau to the power ant/remote circuit on the interface harness you used? sounds like you are not remoting on the factory amp, you may also want to look at an amp elimination kit as opposed to amp integration.....

The PAC is wired according to specification.  Everything goes to andthrough the PAC.

The thing that gets me is that absent the PAC - when I disconnecttne speaker harness and reconnect the harness THEN I get sound  - perfectsound (the five wire workaround - common negative and the four speakerpositives to the preamp) until I change channels or turn unit on/off.

Then I have to disconnect/reconnect/get sound.

Why do I get sound upon reconnecting the harness?  Then sound goes awaychanging stations?

I am about to give this over to an installer.

Crutchfield used to be reliable.

The easiest best way to get around your problem is to just rewire the speakers, run new speaker wires from the radio to the speakers.

Metra makes an amp bypass harness that is super easy to use.... sounds like you may be oversaturating the input stage of the factory amp... are you running line level into it or preamp? Metra makes a preamp integration harness for this vehicle for cases just like this... works great if your HU has dual pre-outs.....

Thanks for the tips.

But I am not going to rewire speakers, nor tamper with the OEM installationin case I sell the car it will be OEM, including the radio.

There is a work around this and it my be this Metra harness.

I do not know what a HU is, but the PAC adapter does have dual pre outs,so I will look into this option.

Otherwise, I'm caving and taking to installer.

The Blaupunkt is nice and I am sure my son will enjoy it.

It has all the latest features and it fires up fantastic when

I can trick the speakers to sound.

A year from now your son will have two amps, component speakers and two subs in that car;  the factory system will be hiding in the garage...and you'll say "WTF happened?"  BTW, a HU is the term for head unit, which is what the Blaupunkt is.  And I use my OEM Ford speakers to collect paper clips....  ;)
Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

actually in a 92 sable w/ premium sound there is a bypass harness right above the factory radio.  If you look there will be 2 plugs 1 black and 1 grey, just unplug them and then get  a regular ford wiring harness and it plugs right in and presto...sound and amp bypassed!!

i dont know what BTW means.... kidding.....

the Metra amp bypass is super easy to use... you unplug both plugs on the amp and plug them into the bypass harness, then all your connections are made at the radio plug

awilliams64 nailed what I was going to suggest to look for. Some of the Ford vehicles used the standard basic ford wiring plug on the output section of the amplifier. Have a look on this site www.installdr.com to see if any of your plug types are listed there.
