I have a viper 560xv that I think may be bad.  I posted a while back that I couldn't get my RS to work for crap (Thank you to all who tried to help) but it worked partially once the first time I tried it, but never again.  Tried grounding the trigger wire and it would crank, but never start.  Now, the siren will work intermittenly.  I first thought it was a loose connection but I moved the wires and it makes no difference , sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.  I soldered all my connections, and made sure they were tight.  there are no places that motion could've changed this (and I checked).   Today what made me wonder if the brain is crappy is that I went to the movies and when I armed it no chirp.  when I disarmed after the show, chirped fine.  I've even tried setting it off when it doesn't chirp and get nothing when it's been triggered.  Just the lights and starter kill.  So I'm wondering if it's not something in the brain.  Any input?

I can't remember the last time I saw a defective DEI brain. I would guess its installation related....probably a bad/loose ground wire.

I checked the ground and it's solid and in a cherry spot, no paint.  Everything else works fine.  I have two 530t's to all the windows and they work perfect everytime.

First thought would be ground. I have seen dei brains go bad, not very often. Could the siren have gotten wet at any time in the last couple days? Also is the siren going through a grommet to get through the firewall?

Try and put your siren direct to a power supply ( bench test type)if u have one, if not go direct to the battery. that tell ya if the siren is good or bad. but make sure u put the ground to the battey also.

best/only way to test the circuitry in and out of the brain unit would be with a meter (DMM)... as has been said already..in the 5 years or so i've been a DEI dealer, i've never had a bum brain unit....

Sweet I'll try all those, plus I just had my alternator take a dump so that could have something to do with it.  I'll test the siren, it has been raining and I never thought of the water. (duh)  Thanks for the input, I'll post up any new info.
