I was shooting for power today while I was installing an alarm in my 2003 tacoma ext cab and I heard a pop and realized that one of the connectors for my a/c and heater panel had touched a screw and one of the wires had shorted to ground.  The wire that I think touched was a WHITE/ black stripe wire, about 12 gauge.  It's an 8 pin connector (if I remember), of which only 5 pins or so were installed.  Does anyone know where this wire goes to?  I checked all the fuses I could find and everything appeared to be ok.  I shot that wire for power after the incident and it reads no power so I obviously blew a fuse or melted something.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

the connector that I'm talking about hooks up to the left side (from drivers seat) of the back of the a/c and heater panel.

If you checked all of the fuses and none are blown, you may have blown a trace on the circuit board for the ac.
By the way, has anything stopped working?

I haven't reinstalled the panel yet to test it out, but I checked again for power on that wire and it read nothing.  I was worried that I might have damaged something a little expensive.  I guess we'll see tomorrow.  I just figured if it was a 12 gauge wire it would be fused.

Yeah, don't worry till you check to see if everything works. Once you find that out it will be easier to track down a known problem.

I just reinstalled the panel and sure enough, the A/C doesn't come on, but everything else on the panel works fine.  I shot for power and there's another pin going to that panel that is also power, so everything else must be running off of that.  I checked the a/c fuses under the hood and they are all good.  I removed the fuses and shot for power at the fuse panel and there's power there.  Without a wiring diagram I'm kind of stuck.
