I had a clarion dvd player that has broken twice on me and will never use clarion again.  I got the money back for it but now what.  I posted a topic here about touchcreens on what people thought about them and decided to go back with touch screens.  I am looking at the alpine iva d300.  Does any body have any suggestions or have this unit and what do you think about it.  I had a alpine cd player a long time ago and never had problems with it.  Also with the clarion I defeated the safty feature for driving while a dvd was playing, can that be defeated with alpine.  I heard something about a special box you needed to defeat this.  Any info anybody has would would be greatly appreitiated.  Thank you for all your help

Even though I'm not into the touch screens,  the alpine is an excellent unit.  One thing to keep in mind about touch screens is that the gears of the screens are very delicate and if you apply too much pressure to the screen, you will damage it.  Also, I can't stand finger prints on screens when I'm trying to enjoy a video.  The safety can also be defeated on the alpine, but it has a 2 wire set up,  1 for the footbrake which needs to be connected and 1 for the emergency brake which can be bypassed.
Do it right the first time
