Anyone know how to activate what I believe is a factory amp in a 1995 Mercedes C220 4-Door to get the rear deck speakers working?  I am using an aftermarket radio.  There are speakers in front and rear doors, which work, but in the rear deck is one 6" (woofer?) and two smaller mids.

The only wires left in the radio harness are GREEN / WHITE (VSS wire) and a YELLOW/BLACK.  I could see no amplifer in the trunk on either side.

Reply if you have any ideas.

is it the Bose system?

on my 94 C280 the amp was located behind the cover panel in the trunk on the drivers side, but on my 00 E55 AMG it's under the back seat if i'm not mistaken......

i think the amp turn on wire was in the lowest connector that plugs into the back opf the radio, the one with the power and ground connections on it......

I'll see if i still have the sound system schematics for my 94 around here somewhere......

No, it isn't Bose. here are no remote wires in the radio harness, just a VSS and another YELLOW/BLACK, but it isn't a remote.  No amp in the trunk, just electric anenna on driver's side and doorlock pump on passenger's.

Actually, on further testing, I've found that the two smaller speakers ARE working, but putting out bass only.  Seems odd to have 5" subs, but it could be?  The single speaker nearest the driver's side still doesn't seem to do anything.

Well, it's got wires, so I would guess active.  It looks the same size as the others.  I'm wondering if it could have been a non-radio speaker, used for something like a factory cellphone for instance.

I checked with a Mercedes dealer and was told that the two deck speakers were bass-only and the third is -- indeed -- made for a cellphone.

Thanks
