Battery Conditioner Schematic

Once again I am on a project route [although my funds are depleated]. I have given up on the cell phone signal booster, since the cost benefits were small, compared to the price. The Eprom Programmer is all planned out, just no money to buy the stuff. So, to save a little money on shipping, I figured, what other "crap" can I make. So, I search around for schematics, find all this stuff, and I come across a site with TONS of schematics in their database. I found "battery conditioner" in there. Looked at it, nothing in the links [just a link to nothing :(]. Now I am curious, I have my '89 Bonneville, which doesn't see a whole lot of pavement, and the battery is fairly new, and I would like to keep it working well, once I get all her "bugs" worked out. My quest for the week, is to find the schematics for a "battery conditioner," is this possible, where can I find one, and would it be economical to do this? I know about the "Battery Tender Plus" from [http://www.batterytenderplus.com/ ], and it is $59, I however would like to do it cheaper [as always, I want the cheap route out]. The Battery Tender Plus is an excellent unit, I have been using it for years, it is the only unit in the world that offers a 10 warranty. If you are interested in reduced sulfication, then that unit is not what you need. During the normal discharge of a lead-acid battery, lead sulfate forms on the battery's plates. When recharged, this soft spongy material is converted back into the battery's electrolyte solution. When this material fails to release from the battery's plates, it begins to harden and crystallize. This destructive process is known as sulfation. Equalizing or over charging the battery was the only way, in the past, to remove the sulfation from the battery's plates. The very material that enables lead-acid batteries to release their energy and its out dated cure is what causes most batteries to fail. ah, naw, I just want the battery to stay charged [i listen to music when I work, and having the charger temp. connected sucks, and it kills the battery if its done charging, and i don't take it off. -justin'89 Bonneville Super Sexy Edition
