NEED HELP!!!!!!

Is it possible to drop the top on a 97 Porsche 944 utilizing one of the available channels on an alarm? Now before you ask, I haven't seen the car yet, which rules out what i've already attempted to do.

I guess my main concern would be:

1. Ttime duration (long enough pulse to drop it)

2. Power (Will the constant line burn up even if I use a thick gauge wire)

If anyone has tried, attempted, succeeded in doing thisin any vehicle, any light and assistance on this matter is greatly appreciated.

what unit are you using??? have you thought about using a window module????

If it has a one touch top retracting system, it makes it even easier, but not sure about Porsche, and I can't find a listing for anything past a 92 944. Give us some more details, and I am sure we can make it happen.

Err... yeah. Like I said, I have not worked on a convertible Porsche, that's why I was asking about the one touch setup. I would assume if it was a one touch, that the latches would be included in the system. I could, and very well might be wrong. It happened one other time...

With out being rude.... please excuse... just get the vehicle and check it out!!! SL500s are easy as pie. This shouldn't be too hard. Either the customer has to hold the remote button the whole time or not. You mentioned its one touch........ great make it happen. Sounds EASY to me.

It seems as if it will be an autopage alarm (not to sure though). As far as the latches are concerned, I don't know if it has it or not. I'll find out by Monday and get back to you guys. Thanks for all the help.

if the latches are not manual, you could time how long it takes to put the top all the way down. Then get yourself a TR-7 from PAC (type TR-7 in on ebay and you'll see what I'm talking about), and you can program that to give you a timed output for the top. For example, if it takes 45 seconds to put the top down, program the TR-7 for a 45 second output, or even 47 seconds just incase. Hook up the TR-7 to a relay, and hook the relay up to the output side of the switch you push to put the top down. That way you don't have to worry about wire guage or burning up wires because of too much current.
