Hello,
Yesterday, as I was on my way home, the volume coming through the speakers cut out to about half the norm. Now, on a range of 0-80, turning it almost all the way up to 80 isn't nearly as loud as it was when it was at, say, 50-60.
I also noticed that right when I start the car, the volume will be fine (ie. as it was a day ago) but about 3 seconds the volume will drop out again. It's almost like it's 'auto-muting' after 3 seconds, but a minimal amount of sound is still getting through (and I don't have an auto-mute feature).
What could these symptoms indicate? Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure, But i would just check each speaker to be sure. test the speaker, and be sure that the wires are fastened tightly.  If its not much of a hassel, remove your deck out, and be sure the connections are tight as well. I hope there not taped together. ^_^

Forgot to mention does the deck happen to be a factory made or after market product?

The HU is an eclipse AV8132 aftermarket.
Sound is coming from all speakers. But as I said, its only 'full' sound for about the first 3 seconds after starting the car. Then, it simply sounds like someone turned it almost all the way down. You can turn it up almost all the way, and it will still only be about 50% normal loudness.
All amps have power and show no alert/warning status.

Sounds like a defective opamp or power supply component is shutting down (probably on thermal overload.)  I'd get the head unit checked, or try a different amplifier if you have access to one.  If it does the same thing with a different amp, it's definately in the HU.

Ok, I think I'm going to make an appointment with the installer to check it out, as the system is way out of my league (which doesn't take much).
If anyone has any other suggestions, please feel free. Thanks for the help thus far.
