old lanzar amp

me and my friend were in a local shop and ran across an old azz lanzar amp we pick it up and read that it does 1500w @ 4ohms mono this is my first old sckool amp i really not getting why this amps are supposed to be better than the new ones i hook it up to my two diamonds that i have ran for a 1ohm load my crossfire can push them all day but the lanzar goes into protect mode right when the cd player comes on i heard that old hifonics, earthquake, lanzar, soundstream, power fosgate,  and orion are priceless and are hard to find and i don't see why i was going to sell my crossfire for this amp could some body tell me why this lanzar is better then my crossfire bmf1000d

First, who said it is "better" than Crossfire?  Second, if the ratings say it's capable of a 4-ohm load, that is the MINIMUM.  Of course it went into protection on your 1-ohm load, that's what it is supposed to do!
