I was installing a kenwood hu unit and a 400 watt profile amp with dual 8" pyaramid subwoofer now the problem is that when I hooked everything up.The amp  kept shutting on and off  now I checked all the wires and re ran the wies and put the ground somewhere else and the problem was still there. Then I tried to run another amp I put on a 1000 watt pyle amp and when I turned  on this amp the protect light just stayed on  now . me question is what could be the problem I now it is not the amps or the radio or the speakers because I tried it all could it be the car?He owns a honda civic 1991 any help will be appreciated.thanx

"amp turning on and off" or "protection light on" are standard symptoms of too low impedence load from your speakers.  How are your subs wired?

If the setup functions in another car (or when powered from another 12 volt source) then either your alternator or electrical system in the car is defective or overloaded and the amp is shutting down on low voltage, or you have a very bad power/ground connection for the amp (probably the ground.)

I agree with the lack of grounding in the car. seen this problem too many times someone new doesnt use sufficient size wire and the amp cuts out when you crank it up. Check the grounds at both ends of the battery cables. what ever size power wire you use usually use the same or bigger ground wire to complete the circuit.
