Im looking to cheaper alternatives of sound deadning. I just dont' really want to pay the price for dynamant. Anyways the other day I saw some vinyl based pads, which were still around 3-4 bucks a sq foot. So I started thinking, what if I put a thick layer of liquid latex down? Anyways have any suggestions/thoughts/comments on this?

Here's the best cheap alternative I've found:  http://www.mcmaster.com/asp/enter.asp?pagenum=3270  Adhesive-backed damping sheets;  polymeric mastic.  Sheets are 12 sq ft for $14.62 each.  I got next day delivery for $11 that covered the cost of shipping 3 sheets ground ( a fairly heavy box!).  I got best results by cleaning the metal surfaces of any dust, and adding a layer of 3M Super77 spray glue to the surfaces of the sheet metal, and used heat to mold the sheets into the crevices.
Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

i second that. I started some folks on here to that website a few months back. The roll on damper works great too!! TONS on damping stuff on there for cheap.  Everything from sound damping foam to vibration damping sheets.

Or you could do what was done in a 320i I just finished helping with.  The owner had used chewing gum and stuffed wads into every crevice and between every panel.  Must have been ten pounds of the stuff in there!

I did not like the mcmaster stuff at all.  It was not nearly as easy to work with as brown bread, dynamat xtreme, or raammat.  If there were any bubbles at all the mat had the tendency to peel off in the heat.  http://www.raamaudio.com/  is the best low cost yet acceptable solution to me.

I second the RaamMat from raamaudio.com, I used it on my car and it works just as well as dynamat xtreme.

kinda like dynamat but 1000% better.    It sticks and forms to about any surface countour, and it will not fall of no matter what if applied properly
