So I took the covering off the brain of the alarm I am about to install, because I am too damn curious and when I was putting it back in the casing/covering I must have pushed on one of those little metal pokey things that are on the back side of the board. Needless to say it cracked and it is a little flimsy. I stood it back up straight and it stays there even when i shake it around and stuff and it does't pull off. Oh and I should mention that it is cracked half way up so only the tip. Anyways I was hoping someone could comfirm that all those little metal pokey things on the backside of the board are just excess metal from making the connections?

Do you mean the actual prongs that the haness attaches to ?

no not those....you know on the back of computer boards(chips) how there are those little tiny pieces of metal sticking up, basically every place that there is a connection made on the top of the board.

I took oa picture of them...sorry about the crappy quailty but the "things" I am refering to are all the little silver spots in the the picture. Not the long ones at the end where the harness connects.

Bruce,

If the pin out of the solder joint moves, then all you need to do is reflow the solder joint. If you simply broke off the tip of component pin(s) and the surrounding soldered area is still sound, you can leave it.

That picture was pretty bad, so I cant tell you for sure.
