I cannot decide between JL Audio and Polk Audio. which would you guys recommend?

Specifically, at the moment, I am deciding between a 4" coaxial from JL Audio (XR400-CX) and 4x6" Component Plate from Polk Audio (MMC460). But the decision also tough because I am going to match the rest of my speakers in my system to which one I choose. They both make good speakers but which would be the better of the two, in your opinion? Why you chose the brand would help too.

speakers, i cant say, but for subs, i'd go with the JL. i've heard a few polk subs, and i wasnt impressed. nor was i impressed with their carbon series amplifiers.

both polk momo and JL audio have great sounding mids and highs..as far as subs go, JL is better and so are their amps

Go JL all the way around. JL is a solid comapany that makes a good product, they have several different lines of subwoofers to match up to your price range. Two series of amps to match you there to. I have nothing against the Polk fullrange speakers, in there respective price ranges I have found all of the Polk's to be good, or very good. The JL 4" sound sweet, but remember its just a 4 inch speaker, anything you can do to get a larger speaker size would help you greatly. But if I had to go with a 4" coaxial, it would be that one.

I've only heard JL's and Polk's 6x9s. In my opinion I would choose the Polks for sound quality and since it's a larger speaker, good midbass response. But JL makes some crazy speakers though. Just my opinion.

Honestly, I would go with the Polk's up front, with a JL sub.

yea i already have a JL Audio sub, so I am set in that department. The 4" is for a center speaker and I cant really go any bigger. Thanks for the feedbak guys.

I would go with the jl, You might want to look around jl also makes plates very similar to the polk model but they are next years or past years model I have seen a few but dont know the model #

Personally, I have tried both. Currently I have JL's all around in my truck. I wasn't happy with my Polks. They have a very high frequency cut off point and wont give you the mid range that you desire. I could tell that I was missing a good bit. You know it when you are used to hearing certain notes in a song but when all of a sudden when playing through my Polks it wasn't there.

definitly in my opinion JL all the way;polk is sweet too but if your into pumping your beat JL is the call and if your into listening to your tunes and like finess and a crispy sound go for Polk for example: :

JL AUDIO : reggaton,hip hop,rap reggae,bass beats,trance,club,etc. POLK AUDIO:smooth r&b,Dance ,rock,alternative,,jazz u get the point.
