good cheap Remote Starters

whats a cheap remote starter that works well?

How much are you willing to spend?

Like i tell my customers,there are lot of re-badged alarm/rs systems out there,when i was working for a whore, he sold 25-30$ alarms,and i cant tell you how many of them didnt have a problem..i couldn't't believe it myself,but i know 90%(maybe more) of an alarms reliability is in the install.. #1-NO SCOTCH LOCKS,99.99% of problems i see with alarms is them,the other .01 % is grounding the siren under the hood! Strip the wire,poke your test light,or mm probe through the middle of the wire,then strip the connected wire about 1-1.25 ",stick it into the hole you made,then wrap the wire around.. for low current like trigger wires,don't even worry about solder,do the same for rs high current wires,but solder them(you can strip the wire a little shorter too,as long as you can solder properly.. ground the brain under a dash bolt,not screw,and all other grounds,somewhere else..as long as the brain has its own ground..as far as antennas,if you need more range, first make sure you stretch out the cable,and run it high,and make sure only plastic is between it,and the air..if that isnt enough,take an old ant cable,measure the current wire ant,strip off the shielding the same length on the far end of the ant cable,make it as long as you need ,take apart the alarm,solder the close end(center conductor) to the same spot the old wire was(you can just crimp/solder to whats left outside the brain,but it is better to do it inside) then solder(again,outside is ok,but..) the shield of the ant wire to a ground inside the alarm,then run the stripped off end high in the dash,with only plastic above it.. i dont recommend using a pillar,the metal is too close,rest assured it will be better than under the dash,but not as good as away from metal.. i guess the above applies more to regular alarms,without an actual ant/transceiver.. with the ones with ant's,i put them in front of the rear view mirror,this is alot better than putting them at the top of the windshield,the tinted part of the windshield is metallic,so it blocks some of the signal,more than you would think! i just sit in the drivers seat,and put it on the windshield where the driver can't see it while driving;the mirror blocking it's view.. some higher end gms/fords have a sensor or two on the rearview mirror,or buttons,etc.. so this gives you a route to below the 'as-1' line(bottom of factory windshield tint) I do prefer Crimestopper,but as described above,MANY name brand alarms/rs's work fine,just install them right!'Stereo' Mike
