ive never heard the type s in car... i'm looking for component speakers in the 200-250 range and i want as much midbass as  i can get. maybe like 55-65 hz? I will be powering these speakers with a 80x2 rms alpine 2 channel amp... Anyone got any other reccomendations becuase i liked the way the type s's sounded like compared to everything else in there price range... but im totally unsure of in car midbass?

i just put a pair in my moms jetta running off her factory set up.  They had some pretty good midbass, more than the type-r components.    The type-s line is geared more for the factory replacement without a sub kinda deal, so there designed to put out a fair amount of bass.

for $250 you can afford type r's why dont you go with them?    They are a huge difference between the s and r's
