Ive got a customer with a 2002 Monte Carlo that I installed a remote start in about six months ago.  She is having a check engine light on after remote start only if its below freezing.  I have tested it, and all seems ok... any one have any ideas?  She is going to leave it with me overnight next week, but I would like to have an idea of what it might be before then.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi
I would read the code with a code reader to give you a hint. I had a Olds Cutlass that kept having the light come on and it was a broken wire on the temp sensor in the rubber hose going into the intake. The autostarter install might be unrelated. Good luck!

Ok... I had the customer drop off the car yesterday, luckily the sevice soon light was on (in the cluster). I scanned the vehicle, and no codes were stored. I used my Ease proffesional scan tool, and my snap-0n mt-2500, and still showed no codes. Both scan tools showed that the service soon light was not on. I turned the key off, then on and the light went out. I remote started it several times with no light. I left it alone for 45 minutes, then went out and started it with the remote, and the light came on right away, turned key on, light stays on, turn key off then back on and light goes off. Heres what I did, double checked my connections, removed my parking light wire (I know directed says not to use a the B+ but my other two information sources ssid the opposite) replaced my PLDATA, and reprogrammed it. Let the car sit for two hours, then started it with the remote, and the light came on right away again....I was using a pulse to the starter (factory anti-grind) which was working flawlessly, but to be sure, I ran a tach wire, and programmed the tach, waited a hour, then started it again... and of course the light came on right away again!!!! I am at a loss here.. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If I understand it:
The Light does NOT come on with the Key, just with RS/?
R U sure the PLDATA has constant power?
Check RS connections again

Yep, its good.  It only comes on with the remote start AFTER it has sat for at least 45 minutes.  If you start it within that time, the light does not come on.  The customer said that it did it when its cold, but I think I misundersood.. its when the car has been sitting for awhile.  It seems that the BCM is causing it, and it only sets after it has "gone to sleep".. so I have wired it to unlock the doors on remote start, then start it.  First time it worked, but I want to test it a few times before I call it a fix.  Any other suggestions?  This one is really "erking my pickle!!"

It sounds like something (DataBuss, module, Relays) R loosing memory or not powering up on time.  Usually the Factory Alarm sets within 45 seconds
If it works good with Key, then RS is still problem
If U have RS set to DisARM on RS and the DATABuss checks out, I would be looking at proper power up timing from RS

Use a relay to ground the BROWN wire off the PLDATA

Use a relay to isolate the starter wire from the ignition in case your getting a bleed through voltage.

Post your results
