I have a '80 cadi and the rear deck has space for 4x10" and is not deep enough to use Pioneer's replacement. Is there any way to place the speakers behind the back seat? Is there any kits for it? Thanks for the help.

4x10's are not known for very good sound, and there are only a few available... you can use adapter plates like these and install 6X9's, which gives you a much wider choice of speakers so you are more likely to find a set that will fit.

The opening is not deep enough to fit a 6x9". I think the only way will be to attck the speakers to something in the trunk.

Try making a plate that some smaller coaxials or some components that will fit into the space alotted, you will lose a little of the lower  end but it will give you better SQ I agree DYohn I have not heard one set of 4x10 worth putting in.  If you have subs in your trunk you wont notice the low end anyway you will just have a lot cleaner sound inside the car.
