What do the dual ratings on  relays mean?  Ive seen relays that simply say 30A or 40A and then other ones that say 30/40A or 20/40A.

Why are there two ratings?  (They are all 12V SPDT relays I'm talking about.)  Does one rating indicate the current capacity when the relays coil is not energised and the other when it is energised?  If that is the case, which one is which?  Why would they be different anyhow?

If anyone knows, please let me know!
