ok im trying to fit an 8 inch (8w7) woofer behind the passenger seat in an toyota mr2. basically from my measurements i want a wedge of sorts, but with the enclosure raised slightly off the floor and firing downward. would this be considered a "slot port"? or basically just a regular sealed enclosure?

well the issue is would the sq be lessened by it being supported on 3 sides (+ the floor acting as a bottom)?

are you saying that the sub is in its own box and enclosed in the box

or that the box itself isnt enclosed and using the floor of the car as a part of the box.

Your last post threw me...

its an enclosed box, with a 3 sided lip on the bottom to prevent the sub from resting/hitting the floor

ahh ok...Thats not a problem....I have the same setup in my Rodeo,,,

I have a downfire enclosure same as you The sound is not effected by the 3 sided support piece...My rodeo is setup for sound Q and I have won quite a few competitions with it....As long as you box is built close to spec for the sub you wont have any probs...

Sorry bout my confusion

the problem is the 8w7 moves ALOT, trust me. your box would need to be a good 2.5" to 3" off the floor. Also i would do almost anything for a ported box @ 1^3ft. It plays so deep that way.
