I just installed my viper 791 in my 2000 dodge neon.  I used the 555c bypass module and I get a check engine light.  I do a key dance and it says that an invalid key in skim was used to start car.  How do I get the car to stop throwing the code?

On another note I tried hooking up a 2.5k ohm and a 7.5k ohm resistor to my door locks and they will lock but not unlock and when they lock they will not arm my factory alarm.  I don't really car about this but I don't know if I should.  At the moment I am using a 2.5k ohm and a 250 ohm resistor on the locks and it works great.

One other issue is my defroster.  How and the heck do I hook it up to switch on for remote start?  I have a wiring diagram for the switch but no matter what I do (I tried using realys and the sort) it does not seem to work.

-thanks

For the CEL, you need to make sure that the bypass is only active while the remote start is on. If the blue wire from the 555 is grounded or tied to the wrong wire then that would cause the bypass to be on at all times and would through the codes you have.
I say skip factory alarm bull, easier that way. If locks work then let it be.
For the defroster, I am no help. I live in AZ and don't know what that is/does. JK. Needless to say I have never had to hook one up.

Lucky you.  I live in Michigan and it gets pretty cold here in the winter.

I have my bypass hooked up right so I don't think that is it.  (Its hooked to the blue output wire on the 4 wire harness from the relay sattelite.)

Thanks for the info though.

1) Use relays on the doorlocks..... Dodge multiplex systems need to see "hard" ground through a resistance. The module's "ground" isn't ground enough
2) You could try the ist key, second key...wait for the ding, then ground the wait to start (grey/black) and hit remote start to learn pellet.

um yeah I have it hooked up through relays and resistors.  I already tried what you suggested for number 2.
